Christmas in May

This morning Tyler asked me for some paper. He wanted to draw a picture of Santa on his slide with all his goats. Awesome.

random afternoon park pics

Not much to say tonight. I'll just share a few pictures from the park this afternoon and say goodnight.
A little boy came up to me and said "hey lady, d' ya know your baby's eating chalk?" My reply? "Hey.. the kid's gotta eat." He was quiet and happy. I don't mess with that.
FYI Tyler does not have buck teeth despite what this picture shows. NOT that I have anything against people with buck teeth. My awesome sis had stellar buck teeth until braces did away with them back in the 80's. And dang I love her! And her teeth. So back to Ty.. he was making very manly motorcycle noises that resulted in buckish looking teeth.
And that's the end of park day. We played hard, came home, washed off the chalk dust, ate pancakes, and went to bed. It was a nice afternoon.

Gladiator Mud Run

I took the kids to watch Brent compete in a mud run on Saturday. Three miles of dirt, rocks, mud and twelve "extreme gladiator inspired obstacles".

He did great and even more importantly, had a whole lotta fun playing in the mud. I think I may pull together a girls team next year. Anyone want to do it with me?

a sleepless night

Every now and then we have one of those nights. You know the kind.. one has a bad dream, another wets the bed, and the last just wants his mommy in the middle of the night. This morning, with my eyes aching for want of sleep, I happened upon this lady's profile on mormon.org. Funny how one person's story can change your whole perspective.
She talked about an orphanage in Bulgaria and the children she's met there. Just the thought of those little ones with no one to comfort them in the middle of the night, no one to rock them or sing them back to sleep, was heart wrenching! I wanted be their mommy. All 2000 of them.
It also made me grateful. Grateful I get to do that for my children and grateful my children have someone to do that for them. Life is good. Motherhood is awesome!! That said, my bed is going to feel so, so good tonight!
