La Brea Round Two

Here are just a few more pictures from La Brea. It really was an amazing place.
I'm not sure if Lauren is interested in the bones or her reflection. I'm guessing she's playing with the latter.
I thought this exhibit was particularly cool. Very dramatic. Those are dire wolf skulls.

This shot is actually the back of the LA museum of art that happens to be next to the La Brea Museum. I love the lines and textures they used in the design.

And there you have it. Overall, I give the museum an A-. It was just the right size for kids and I loved the outdoor park all around it. It gets the minus because, despite their efforts to contain it, there was still too much mud/tar for my kids to stomp in.

La Brea

We took the kids on a day trip to La Brea Tar Pits today. Very fun. The mastodon was my favorite. These pictures don't do justice to the size of the thing! It was truly awesome.

Day 17

Of my thirty day challenge. In case you were wondering.
I shall call this one "pink balloon".

Ty and Jacob

There's something so thrilling when your kids start having friends. REAL friends that they play with and talk about things with. I mean besides siblings. We had one of Ty's buddies over and I just loved hearing them talk about "boy stuff" together.
I have no idea why Ty's eyes look freakishly shiny. Ok.. I do know why. I went a little crazy with the high pass filter. But it's too late to change and I'm going to bed! And I know you should never start a sentence with "and" or "but", but it's too late to change and I'm going to bed. Did I mention it's late and I'm going to bed?

ribbon box

Ten years and three girls equals ribbon chaos. (At least it does for me!) So after my trip to the ghetto for ribbon the other day, I decided a little organization was in order. One wooden crate and a couple of dowels later, my ribbon box was born. Not the most beautiful one on the market, but it does the job and my favorite part (besides the low cost) is that it's portable. That comes in handy when your work space is also your kitchen table.

crafting

The girls and I made hair bows today. I really should do more "crafty" stuff with them. It's a nice way to spend time together and we get to make something pretty too. Definitely a win/win.

The Sunday track

One of the things Ty loves about Sunday is that Brent plays "trains" with him. He was particularly proud of their new layout today and asked me to take a picture of him and his Dad.

a not so lovely day

We went to the park anyway.
It was cold.
Stop laughing.
Karen.
And Cheri.
You think I can't see you.. but I can.
Sixty five degrees feels cold when you've become a California pansy.

Tiger Lilly

I braved a ghetto in Long Beach today just to buy cheap ribbon. She has her lines memorized and the play is on Friday. And now for the costume...

my flowers

a happy place

I bought myself flowers today. And cherry lifesavers. I also watched this and it made my heart ache. But in a good way I think.

In honor of..

my two sisters, who now eat gluten free, I made a loaf of gluten free cinnamon raisin bread. I've been giving "gluten free" a try for a while now and it hasn't been too bad really. Easier than I thought. But when all is said and done, I decided to return to my old ways. I heart wheat bread and am not ready to give it up!

30 day challenge

I'm pretty sure not blogging for almost three months qualifies as being stuck in a blogging rut. So, in an effort to start again, I'm taking a thirty day challenge. One picture a day for thirty days. No pressure to write something witty or profound. Just thirty days of common, boring, everyday life.

Hello?

Hello?

Is anyone still there?

*crickets*

I understand completely. This challenge is solely for numero uno. I just gotta dust off my camera again and get too it! So here goes.
Little Man is currently the victim of a bad haircut. I thought he'd cooperate more if I took him to a salon. Ha!! Not so much. Please excuse me now while I go buzz his head.
